About Us

Joshua Dorgu

Joshua Simi Dorgu was born on Tuesday 6th February 1996 at the Whittington Hospital, North London. He was the youngest of two siblings in the family.

He grew up in Islington and had his primary education at St John’s School, Pemberton Gardens. He started his secondary education at North London International School, Friern Barnet, before transferring to Highgate School in Year 9. There he completed his GCSEs with very good grades and then proceeded to study for his A Levels in Mathematics, Physics, Religious Education and Philosophy at Highgate. He was a keen supporter of Arsenal Football Club and regularly watched them play live at the Emirates Stadium.

On Tuesday 20th January 2015, Joshua suffered a cardiac arrest during a Mathematics lesson and passed to glory later that evening.

Joshua was always very helpful and ready to go the extra mile in his desire to help and assist anyone in need, irrespective of age, race or social class. Joshua wished every young person would have the opportunity and resources to be educated and also know the love of God.

The Joshua Dorgu Foundation works to continue this legacy of generosity and kindness that was evident in Joshua by providing educational bursaries to young people and also to promote the knowledge of a wide range of potential career opportunities to young people.

The Foundation also supports annual prizes for academic achievement in Joshua’s former places of learning; St John’s School and Highgate School. It is hoped that students hearing Joshua’s story for years to come will continue to be encouraged not only to show brilliance in their studies but also to show kindness and generosity to those around them.
